Dissolve yeast in warm water and stir in sugar. Beat in other ingredients. Fill muffin pans only 1/2 full. Let rise a few minutes. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes or till golden brown. Better rolls if dough is chilled. Dough keeps in refrigerator for several days.

Rose Petal Rolls II
Ingredients
1 pkg dry yeast
1 egg, slightly beaten with fork
1/4 cup Canola oil
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup warm water
2 cups self-rising flour
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix sugar, flour, oil, egg, and yeast water. Spoon into muffin cups and bake 13-15 minutes.
I wish I could seem smart and give the reason for their name, but really I have no idea why they're called "Rose Petal" Rolls. My mother and I discovered this recipe about 20 years ago, and I've always wondered about their name, too.
