Thanks for the handsoap and toothbrush idea. I dried it wth a blowdryer lightly and it worked great!

I've tried using a mild hand soap and a toothbrush, and spraying lightly with the hose from my kitchen sink. Then I left it upside down on my porch to try. It looked great. Try to avoid getting it waterlogged and you may want to cover any hardware with masking tape first.
