Asparagus Rolls

Have you ever fried several bacon strips just because you needed the grease for seasoning? This is one of my favorite recipes and it will utilize any unused cooked bacon. These rolls go especially well with red-sauced Italian food.

Ingredients

  • 1 can asparagus (whole asparagus spears)
  • 1-2 pkg. cream cheese (depending on how much you are making)
  • Bacon strips crumbled
  • 1 loaf cheap white bread with crusts removed
  • butter
  • garlic salt

Bring cream cheese to room temperature. Mix well with crumbled bacon. Spread a thin or thick layer of the cream cheese (depending on how well you like cream cheese) mixture on each slice of bread. Put one asparagus spear on each slice of prepared bread; roll and pinch edges. Melt butter. Add garlic salt to taste. Brush melted butter on all sides of rolls. Broil both sides of rolls until golden. Serve immediately. Enjoy! -jonid
