Hamburger Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 6 cups cabbage, coarsely shredded
  • 1 10 1/2 oz. can tomato soup

Directions

Saute onion in olive oil. Add ground beef, salt and pepper, heat through, but do not brown. Spread 3 cups cabbage in a 2 quart baking dish; cover with meat mixture and top with remaining cabbage. Pour soup over top. Bake covered 1 hour at 350 degrees F.

Hamburger-Cabbage Casserole

I'm a cabbage lover, so I really enjoy this casserole. I think anyone who likes cabbage will love this recipe. Very good!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp. lemon rind, grated
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 cup onion, minced
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • sliced or grated cheese, of your choice

Directions:

Place cabbage in greased casserole dish. Add salt, pepper, and water. Cover and place in oven at 375 degrees F while preparing remaining ingredients. Mix bread crumbs, milk, and lemon rind, beating well with fork. Combine crumb mixture with hamburger, onion, egg, and seasonings.

Form into a mold the size of casserole and place on cabbage. Return to oven and bake, uncovered, until meat is browned. Place cheese on meat; return to oven until melted. Buttered crumbs may be placed on cheese, if desired. Total baking time is about 30 minutes.

Cooking Time: 30 Minutes
