I am looking for a book from my youth (about mid 1940's) called "Fifty Famous Fairy Tales." I found it in the water heater closet of the house my mom bought during WWII. I was my first real hardcover book. Has anyone heard of it or know how to find a copy with just the title? I would like to get it for my great granddaughter. Thanks for your input.

Lee, hardcover no dust wrapper, Library of Congress Catalog Number 65-11917, printed in the USA by Western printing and Lithographing Company, Golden Press New York, copyright 1965, very small amount of child's writing inside and does not harm the book. I remember the book had a brown hardcover with I think, orange lettering. I don't remember it having a "Genie" on it. And Yes, I'm still looking for it.If anyone has one in good condition they want to sell, please send me an email. Thank you. GG Vi

There's a website called "abebooks.com". I was able to replace every book I've ever lost for just a few dollars (sometimes the postage was more than the book!). They even found MY favorite book as a child in the first edition copy ($600). I hope they can find yours!

I searched Worldcat and found one library that has what i believe to be the book you are looking for. it is in the Cleveland Public Library, Cleveland, Ohio.
That was the only library listed with a copyright in the 1940's. Your library could probably order it for you through interlibrary loan.
