My niece's birthday is Dec. 31, she will be 14 this year. We live in Columbia, SC. I want to plan something nice for the future, but I have no idea of what teens want to do. She can't spend it with friends because they are with their families during the holidays. This is for future birthdays I need help.

Make next year a special party since she wont be spending it with friends this year. Get tickets to a show or rent a room in a restaurant. Have the party after Thanksgiving and stay away from the two weeks before Christmas.
well, good news for you because the only thing teens seem into nowadays is to stuff their noses into their cell phones
anything more than that will probbly seem a rude imposition of their time
i would recommend maybe giving them a nostalgia party IE the sort of party you really would have wanted to have at 14, or actually DID have. Most likely it was some sort of sleepover, with pizza, games, and pranks.
