This is a great holiday appetizer or dessert to have with coffee.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Boil can of condensed milk (unopened) for 3 hours. Make sure water always covers top of can for full cooking time. After 3 hours carefully extract can from water and place in refigerator until totally cool, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Open both ends of can. With lid against contents on one side, push slowly onto waxed paper with slivered almonds that are spread out. This will be a caramel log that you will roll in the almonds until totally covered.

Slice roll thinly as this is very rich and very good. Serve with coffee. Yum!

Note: This will not explode. I've been making this wonderful dessert for years.

Ingredients:

  • 18-19 frozen bread dough rolls
  • 1 box instant butterscotch pudding (3oz.)
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:

Put frozen bread dough rolls in a well greased 12 inch Bundt pan. Sprinkle with butterscotch pudding. Melt together other ingredients and pour over rolls. Let stand at room temperature overnight. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes.

Ingredients:

Dough:
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/4-3 1/2 cups flour
Filling:
  • 1/3 cup margarine, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup melted margarine

Directions:

Dough: In mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Stir in sugar, salt, margarine, egg and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Work in enough remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Place in a greased bowl, turning dough in bowl so that top of dough is greased. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight or up to 4-5 days.

Filling: Combine margarine, brown sugar, corn syrup and pecan halves. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan. Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Roll dough on floured board into a 9x15 inch rectangle. Spread with melted margarine and sprinkle with sugar/cinnamon mixture. Roll as if in a jelly roll, starting with the 15 inch side and slice into 1 inch slices. Place in prepared 9x13 inch pan. Cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about 1 1/2-2 hours.

Bake in 375 degree F oven for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool 5 minutes and invert on platter or rack. Makes 15 rolls.

Caramel Rolls I

Ingredients

  • cinnamon and sugar as desired
  • 1/2 cup white corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • pecans to taste
  • Ad

  • dough as for cinnamon rolls

Directions

Bring corn syrup, butter and brown sugar to a boil. Pour into greased baking dish and sprinkle with pecans. Roll dough as for cinnamon roll (sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.) Cut and place over caramel. Let rise until double. Bake 350 degrees F for 25 minutes. Invert to cool.

Caramel Rolls II

Ingredients

  • 2 loaves frozen bread dough
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 large pkg. regular vanilla pudding
  • 2 Tbsp. milk

Directions

Cut 1 loaf bread dough into 1 inch pieces. Put in greased 9x13 inch pan. Melt margarine and mix with rest of the ingredients. Pour over first loaf. Cut second loaf into pieces and put on top. Let raise in warm area until it reaches the top of the pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup caramel or butterscotch ice cream topping
  • 2 (8 count) cans crescent rolls

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place butter in 9x13 inch pan. Melt in preheating oven. Add nuts and ice cream topping; mix well. Remove crescent rolls from cans in rolled sections. DO NOT unroll! Cut each section into 6 slices. Arrange in prepared pan. Bake 25 minutes until golden. Immediately turn out onto platter. Serves 12.

These may even be better than cinnamon rolls. Serve these for breakfast or top with ice cream for a yummy dessert.
