Caring for Puppies Recovering from Parvo?

My two puppies are already recovering from the parvovirus and show lots of improvements since their last medication. They are past the first 3 critical days. Can they be together in the same house already?

I hope your puppies feel better. Did you go to the vet? They should inform you with tips.

Has your puppies had their full vaccinations yet? It is recommended at least 3 weeks, but it depends how you diagnosed them with Parvo. The vet should have really gave you instructions.

Yes thank God they're getting better now. One of them were confined to the clinic for 4 days, he's injected with antibodies and given antibiotics, while the other one is home treated but is also been injected with antibodies and antibiotics, their medication is through.

I don't think they need to be separated but ask the vet to be sure. Make sure you disinfect and burn the poop. Parvo can stay in the ground or on surfaces for years! Bleach will kill it. Be sure to do all areas where they were. They will never get parvo again but any other dog might. Glad they're doing ok. We have a few die and a few live! It's a horrible virus! I work for a rescue in SC

I know once they have recovered from parvo, they cannot get it again. I would ask the vet to be sure.

I foster dogs from kill shelters. A month ago I took in 3 littermates. A week later the only male suddenly -- over night -- became completely despondent; wouldn't eat or drink. I immediately rushed him to the animal hospital associated with the rescue group where he was treated for 8 days. Meanwhile, his 2 sisters showed no parvo symptoms. They got their boosters on a Monday; picked up the male from hospital on Wednesday.

On Thursday one of the girls became listless, vomited and would not eat. Parvo. She's still in hospital, but doing well also because of immediate care as soon as she was symptomatic, like her brother. Best to keep parvo-positive puppy isolated from siblings for 7 - 10 days following siblings' boosters (2nd inoculation).
