Caring for a Puppy With Parvo?

My 9 week puppy is unfortunately suffering with parvo. I am doing sub-q fluids and also giving Pedialyte through a syringe. She has not had any diarrhea or vomiting for about 12 hours now, but she just wants to lay there and sleep and not move. I am still giving Pedialyte and water through a syringe, but my question is do I just let her lay there and sleep and not move? I keep loving on her and doing all the right things. I'm just worried her laying there and not moving is her giving up. She has been sleeping and not wanting to move for about 14 hours. Now right after she gets her fluids she is back to sleep and not wanting to move.

You need to check wirh a vet because parvo affects the lining of their stomach also. Even though you are pushing fluids, it may not be enough fluids. The puppy needs the vitamins to help it also. The shots for that are generally very cheap at any vet clinic.

I would check with the vet. Parvo can be very serious.

Prayers for healing! I have known many parvo survivors and all had 3 things in common...quick vet care (at first symptoms), parents who followed vet directions to the letter, and lots of prayers and positive thoughts during the treatment.

If you have any concerns, double check with the vet on what you are doing. Every pup recovers at his/her own pace so be patient and continue to love on her. Keep us posted with updates!!

My puppy has made it through the worst and is going to make it! She is up playing amd eating and drinking on her own! It was the hardest thing ever to have to watch but I am just glad she pulled through! Now to get all of her nutrients back and weight on!

That is great news! Congratulations on pulling her through. Recovery can take awhile so dont be surprised if she still takes some long naps and has some quiet days.

And if you see any other symptoms that are out of the ordinary, be sure and check them out with your Vet.
