My dog of 6 years died today. My husband said he was fine at 11:30-12pm today. I got home around 3pm and found him dead in his pen and his face was very swollen. Does anyone know what could have happened to him?

I am assuming the dog's pen is outside, because this sounds to me like a snake bite. So sorry for your loss.

Was your dog on any medication or had any recent vaccines? How was your dog's wellness check last time at the vet
Possible causes:
- Insect/bee bites
- Allergic reaction to something
- Infected womb
- It really could have been anything and age.
So sorry to hear about your dog. Six years old is not old. Your dog could have had an undiagnosed physical problem or recent illness.
I am so sorry to hear about your dog. It sounds like it could have been an allergic reaction, perhaps a bee sting. Or an abscess that finally got big enough to show or possibly an abscessed tooth.
