Choose Alkaline Batteries

A set of alkaline batteries next to a set of heavy duty carbide batteries.I have found that heavy duty carbide batteries do not stack up compared to the alkaline batteries. The alkaline batteries cost more but will give far more service. The heavy duty batteries won't give as bright of light as the alkaline ones. It is worth paying more for the alkaline batteries by far. Longer lasting is less cost of usage.

Inspiration
I was buying the heavy duty batteries for my flashlight. It was a very short life to operate the flashlight. I will only use alkaline batteries anymore.

I only use the heavy duty batteries in clocks. By the time an alkaline battery fails in a clock there is usually corrosion and sometimes leaks. Heavy duty batteries will keep a clock going for a long time and will run out of power before they corrode.

That makes sense. My wrist watches, car remotes and garage door remotes use alkaline batteries but have never corroded yet when the alkaline quits.
