Tie Dye Notebook Cover - finished notebook surrounded with the markers usedAll along I thought tie dye patterns could only be applied on fabrics, but when I saw a tutorial on how to put it on paper and I gave it a try and it looked great!

  • long sized bond paper (legal - 8.5"x13")
  • assorted color markers
  • your book or notebook
  • glue
  • scissors
Tie Dye Notebook Cover - supplies

  1. Measure the size of your notebook. Draw a border line on your paper based on the notebook's size.
  2. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - measure the size of the notebook on the paper and trace around the outside
  3. Fold the paper in half to determine its center and put a dot to mark it.
  4. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - fold paper in half
Tie Dye Notebook Cover - mark the center
  5. Starting with that small dot draw a spiral using colored marker.
  6. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - starting at the center dot draw a spiral
  7. Make layers of spirals using different colors.
  8. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - create layers of the spiral using different colored markers

  9. Now, start drawing lines similar to rays of sun. See photo.
  10. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - draw radiating lines with a marker
Tie Dye Notebook Cover - first pass with a pink marker
  11. Do the same with the other colors and let colors blend in from layer to layer until it covers the whole paper.
  12. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - continue with other colors allowing them to blend
  13. When it's done cut out the border line.
  14. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - when finished cut the border off along the traced line
  15. Get your notebook and coat the outer part of the cover with glue.
  16. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - apply glue to the outside of the notebook

  17. Stick the designed paper onto it. Trim excess neatly.
  18. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - glue the tie dye paper down and trim excess
  19. Done.
  20. Tie Dye Notebook Cover - done

Thanks robyn! the steps are so simple which I even didn't think it would be that easy and fast for me to learn. Never even expected I could immediately create a good result at first try.
