Donating Fabric?

I have a lot of fabric, mostly 100% cotton, that I am looking to donate. I live in the central area of New Jersey. Are there any donation centers you would recommend?

There are numerous placing that would welcome your fabric, especially cotton.

  • If you wish to donate to a "worthy" cause, then I would suggest any of the following:
  • Salvation Army thrift stores
  • Any local church thrift store
  • Habitat Restore (thrift store)
  • Hospice Thrift Store (this would be at the top of my list)
  • If you are just wishing to give your fabric away (but still give to a good place) then most any senior center or homes for "homeless" mothers-to-be.

  • You can also place ads on Craigslist, Freecycle or Next Door and offer free fabric.
  • You should be able to Google places to donate free fabric with your zip code and find lots of places listed.
  • I would suggest calling the shops/places before making a trip.
  • You can also ask for a receipt if you wish to claim it as a donation on your taxes next year.

I would check the telephone directory and see if there is a local thrift shop close by, and donate to one of these, thrift shops do sell fabric and most of the time the monies go to local charities.
