Finding Free Furniture?

I am in need of a full size couch and love seat. I also need a queen size bed. I just moved into a new home with my 13 year old and we are sitting on a broken futon and my bed is broken also. Any suggestions?

Try the facebook swap shops, craigslist, freecycle and thrift stores. However, carefully inspect items first to make sure they aren't carrying bed bugs or other critters.

Register for Freecycle and either post an ad, or look at what is being offered and answer an ad.

freecycle and craigslist are always good. YOu should also though contact different religious or charity organizations in case there's some sort of helping institution in your town. I know of at least 3 in my rural county that can provide heat, supplies, etc for different low income groups

I got my couch on craigslist in the free section , or you can always go to a donation box at night and get a couch like the Salvation Army , oh and Facebook you can probably find something

All of the places mentioned will many times have free items that someone wants to have removed as the items are just in their way but that also means you will have to have someone available (with a truck/trailer) to pick up those items. It would be rare that whoever is trying to give the items away would also deliver them.

If you place an ad on any of these sites be sure to mention whether you have the means to pick up the furniture/items.
Also, you say "new" home but maybe it is a new home to you and you have reasons why you cannot afford to pay for these items. The Salvation Army will many times provide bedding (for those in need) especially if there is a child involved.

many churches will also help and they may have someone that could deliver for you.
