Finding Old Car Tires?

I need some car tires for a DIY boxing stand. Does anyone know where I can get old car tires?

  • You can check on Craigslist under free or, post in the wanted section
  • You can check on Facebook
  • You can call or check with your local tire shops if they'll allow you to recycle some tires yourself (I'd recommend mom&pop shops)

  • You can ask family and friends because when you get tires changed, they charge you a disposal fee and if they change their tires they can ask to keep them (give them to you) and they'll save that disposal fee.

My local tire shop has ones that are completely useless he sells for super super cheap for people to use them for other reasons as they aren't safe for cars. I bought one for a swing in the past.

Usually your local tire shops will be glad to either give them free or they may charge a small fee because they have to pay to have them hauled off - per state laws/requirements.

Remember - if this is not a permanent location you may also have to pay to have them "recycled".

And - many cities/counties are very fussy about having items around that can hold water and possibly be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Ask your neighbors and friends. If you are near Pittsburgh I have two in my garage that I would give you.
