Finding a Place to Stay After a House Fire?

Finding a Place to Stay After a House Fire - kitchen after fireMy kitchen caught fire and now the insurance company says that we can't live there for three to four months and that they don't cover our lodging. We desperately need help. We are in a hotel for now, but our money is running out and we'll be homeless tomorrow at 11:00 am.

Assistance programs to help you out:

The American Red Cross can only help you for 24 hours after a fire. They will give you clothes, shelter, and food during this time. Afterwards, you will receive vouchers to help you with other needs.

This is a fantastic agency that you can contact: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This is a federal agency that administers temporary disaster housing assistance.

Many states operate a service for victims of house fires.

You can also call 1-800-BOARDUP. This is North American's best emergency responders. When you call this number and a person will arrive to help you.

You can also call 2-1-1 and find a list of agencies in the area to help you.

I would suggest contacting your local red cross they are set up to handle situations such as these and they will be able to provide you not just with your immediate needs but ongoing resources as you navigate through this crisis. Im so sorry you are having to deal with this, it must be a nightmare. God bless, and please do contact the red cross thats why they are there to help people in emergencies and crisis like this.

Contact salvation army as well your county social services. Contact the church you attend, and tell your HR director what is going on in your life.

HR may have employee assistance which may give you time off.
