Ford Ranger Heater Not Working Unless Driving?

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 2.5L 2wd 5 speed. I have just replaced my water pump, thermostat, and timing belt and I do not have heat still! I do not have heat unless I am driving down the road! I took one of my heater core hoses loose and I do not have water coming out unless I bring the idle up to about 2500 RPMs.

If the coolant level gets low in radiator no water is pumped to the heater core. Check coolant level.

It could also be an air lock in the system.

Start truck with the radiator cap off run the truck until it gets up to the temp too open thermostat. Have heater on high. The coolant level should drop as it gets warm. Top off with 50/50 antifreeze.

You will need to flush and clean the heater core in your truck. It sounds like it is blocked or clogged and when you drive the car the water is able to push through the clog and circulate.
