Furniture Finish Damaged by Scented Diffuser Oil?

March 12, 2019

I need to restore a small area of wood that has had the top layer stripped away from essential oil vapours. Do I need to re-stain the area or just polish it up?

If it is a small area you should restain if tbe color got lightened. You may have to refinish the entire top, however.

Scented oil you put in jars with wooden reeds was spilled on my wooden dresser and has left a spot that ate part of the finish. Is there any way to fix it without stripping all of the dresser's finish?
