Getting a Puppy After Moving From Parvo Infected House?

I moved away from my old house that was parvo infected. I have been at my new house for a few months now. Will I be OK to get a puppy?

It should be fine to get a new puppy in your new home. I would recommend before bringing home the new puppy that you visit the vet and start the vaccinations on the dog. Keep them up and the dog will be fine in your new home.

The puppy already has its first round of vaccines and is due for another in 3 weeks

The new house you're at now should be fine as it's a new location. Unless do you know the previous history of the home you're currently at (i.e. if they had dogs)

Sending condolences on the loss of your pup. So sad.

I agree with this comment completely!

To add, what is important, and often over looked is bleaching the bottoms of all shoes that may have touched anything with which the ill pup was in contact.

Also I would bleach in hot water any bedding, bowls, and toys from the other pup. Or destroy them and start fresh. If the other pup was on upholstered furniture and it can be steam cleaned, I would do that also.

Sending prayers for you and your soon to be pup that you have a blessed and happy life together. Post back with updates.

PS. When you bleach the shoe bottoms, be sure to do this in a well ventilated area and rinse well. Wear disposal gloves also!

The previous owner did have dogs but none ever had parvo.

As long as there was no parvo in the new house you should be fine.
