I have 2 granddaughters, ages 4 and 5, and several cats. I lost my German Shepherd to old age last year and am wanting to get another dog. I am looking for advice on a really good breed that likes children and cats. Any suggestions?

Labrador Retrievers are great dogs with children and with cats. They just seem to love everything. Terriers are great dogs with children but not so much with cats unless raised with them. There are so many dogs in shelters that need good homes, let that be the first place to look and ask the staff what they know about the dogs history.
