How Can I Make a Roll Up Puzzle Keeper?

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how to make a puzzle keeper. You roll out the cloth and put together a puzzle on it. You can "roll up" the puzzle and store it to roll it out again later when you want to work on the puzzle at another time. This way, a table or other popular surface isn't taken up and space and be saved. Here is an example of the puzzle keeper from Amazon so you can get some ideas. Why should we pay lots of $ for it when we can make a cheaper version, right? Thanks in advance for your clever ideas! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XKDXLTF/?tag=thrif06-20

Puzzles are nice but they do require table space and if you have a cat they always seem to know where they should not jump.
We made one similar to this video years ago and it still works great.

There are several ways to do this and some people use a yoga mat or other flat mat that can be rolled up. If you do not have a piece of PVC pipe handy for the center you can actually make a roll out of a large towel (but something sturdy works best).

Maybe these will give you some ideas.

Thanks so much. The ehow.com post doesn't work-- the pictures don't load. The northerncheapskate post works, though. Can't wait to try this! Sounds like the whole thing will cost less than $10! Whoopee!

I made one from a old camping mat that we laid down under the sleeping bags. They are foam and sterdy. It makes it easy to work on the puzzle, roll it up, and roll it out again. The only thing that I found was hard is when you roll it up there are some pieces that you should store back in the box because a few can fall out.

You just need to be careful not to lose the pieces. I also found there were some things I was working on and when they were rolled up started to come apart and you had to put them back together again. Not all the pieces stay in place and they do move around when they are rolled and unrolled. But all in all the mat was excellent and it did help to move the puzzle from one place to another.
