This is a great and simple tip to save your ice cream from getting frostbitten. Get a freezer zip lock bag and place your ice cream container in it and seal it. And there you go, it is something so simple and will help save your ice cream.
Ice-cream won't form ice crystals in the freezer if you cover the container tightly with a plastic wrap before putting on the lid.

Actually freezer burn is caused by air, this is why vacuum packers work. The plastic wrap needs to be put inside the container and sit directly on top of the ice cream to avoid ice crystals forming. I learned this working in restaurants.
