To a lay person it would appear that this painting could be in Bob Dylan 'style' but only an expert could tell you if it is authentic and they would have to have access to the painting.
I do not remember seeing his signature without having Bob with it but I've only really seen the signature a few times so my opinion really means nothing.

I think if someone wanted to capitalize on his name could/would use Dylon only just in case they're 'caught' and maybe try to say it was just a 'name' they used.
(most of his signatures are not that 'neat' and he seems he usually uses a different style 'y')
You do not say what type of material is used and, of course, that is another reason a painting has to be seen in person.

There are free online appraisal sites that may tell you if they believe the signature could be authentic but would not confirm anything without seeing the painting.
Perhaps how/where you acquired this painting would give you some idea as to its authenticity as Dylon's paintings are never cheap.

If you post your pictures on this site someone may be able to tell you more or at least give an opinion about the signature.

You will have to join Reddit but this site gets a lot of answers..

Maybe someone can provide enough information that you can decide if the cost of an official appraisal would be in line.

It is an actual painting on canvas. I did look up some of Dylan's painting and it is not really his style. I appreciate the websites you referred me to and I will definitely investigate. Thank you for your time!

I have done some research on Bob Dylan and his painting. It appears that he painted for several years while touring with his band. The style of this painting is quite a bit different than some of his other works of art. I have tried to find a site that shows all of his painting but I have had no luck on this one. There are still a few paintings out there for sale and they are quite expensive. Most of his paintings that are offered for sale at the moment range from 3000-5900 dollars. I would like to suggest that you find an art appraiser in your area and talk with them.

Just looking at this painting in a photo here makes it really hard to actually say if he painted it or not. You need to get this looked at to make sure it is really a painting by Bob Dylan. If it is then it could be worth quite a bit of money. It is not uncommon that people buy paintings like this and sell them at a yard sale for almost nothing and have never realized that they could have a valuable painting in their possession. I would get this looked at right away because you may be surprised if it really is one of his paintings.

I did reverse image searches of the signature and the painting and my gut reaction is it is someonea art project--no one famous, BUT, know that there can still be value in it!

I would almost guarantee it is not Bob Dylan for two reasons--his signature is very well known and this looks nothing like it, but more importantly is his themes--at least all I have seen are very US based in genre and this has an Asian vibe to it (to me). It does not feel like a US location.

It is an interesting cityscape. If you have a local art dealer, I would have him/her check it out and first verify it is indeed paint on canvas and not a print on canvas and see if they have any idea of the artist or if the framing can give a hint to the origins.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you are trying to sell it, once you have more info, you may be able to fetch something for it just based on the theme and colors and size.

Post back what you learn!!

This could be a print of the famous singer, song writer , author, and visual artist- Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan is as famous for his art as he of his music. www.artsy.net/.../bob-dylan - en.wikipedia.org/.../bob_dylan - To find out for sure you could take the print to an art gallery where they can confirm if it is indeed him or another good artist!

I don't think this is Bob Dylan's work. The signature doesn't resemble his as it looks like he uses his full name. His art doesn't really look the same either.

Can you tell if this is a painting or if it is a print? The black edge makes me think it might be a print that has been attached to the frame.

I also purchased a painting signed Dylan which is similar with black edge- red abstract barn. I can send photo
