I found one that looks almost identical--although I can't see if yours has the rick-rack trim. It sold in 2017 for $51.

It does not say what city it sold in--and furniture sales are very regional and driven by supply and demand so that was the value in that region.

If it is an exact match, the 2017 price is still very close to the market value (for that region) today because furniture values have not appreciated much in the past 5 years, sadly because the supply continues to grow and the demand doesn't.

Now--question--Does yours have an actual Duncan Phyfe marking on it? Any labels or markings at all?

The one Judy shared could be an accurate price for a true DF piece which would have been made in the 19th century. That value is unheard of for a DF style piece--at least I have never seen a style piece sell for over a few hundred dollars...in my market in the eastern US. Maybe style pieces sell higher in mega cities like LA or NYC.

Please know, there are sellers out there that try to pass off a DF style piece for a real DF piece and that makes me crazy. Style pieces are anything made after the man (Duncan Phyfe) died--so late 1800s to today.

Almost impossible to tell by pictures, but my guess is your piece is a style piece from the 1940s, but this style cycles through and it could be as late as the 1980s. This shade of pink was quite the hot color in the 1980s, although this could be the reupholstered color...so that adds a layer to the valuing also--how good was the reupholstery if it was redone.

I suggest having a vintage furniture dealer look at it in person if possible to see what we cannot--which is the structure and the actual condition (and if there are markings that you may not have seen). They will looking at how arms and legs are affixed, type of screws etc. and they can tell you the value for your area.

Post back with what you learn!! I hope you have a REAL DF piece! That would be cool!! I can honestly say in almost 50 years of being a reseller, I have never seen a REAL piece except in a museum...but maybe I am just not lucky!

Duncan Phyfe and his talented craftsmen produced an impressive collection of quality furniture. Sofas had finely carved legs and damask upholstery.
