Information about Porcelain Doll Anoushka

A doll still in the box.Hi, I am just wondering if anyone knows any information (d.o.b, original price any background) and or current value of this doll. It's Anoushka from the Leonardo collection.

I've owned her for as long as I can remember. Never opened although the temptation was (still is) unbearable. Any information greatly appreciated, I've researched but found barely to no insight. Thank you

Open her and enjoy her!!! You will not be devaluing her at all!

Seriously. Dolls at the moment have a very, very, very low value in the market place. She sold not ago in the UK for less than 13£ or 16 US dollars.

These dolls were sold to people (and I was one of the sellers back in the 1980s and 1990s when they were at the height of their popularity) that were to be investments and that people would be able to retire by selling their dolls in 20-30 years.

That did not happen because the companies lied and "limited edition" meant literally thousands and thousands and thousands were produced and now with everyone downsizing, the market is just GLUTTED with millions and millions of very similar dolls and no one wants them. Kids don't play with them. Adults don't have time, and everyone realized that money needs to be spent on things like food and groceries before dolls.

Maybe in 30-40 years from now, they will be worth a little more, but I doubt it (if you add inflation).

Open her, enjoy her!! Her date should be on her tag...or on the Certificate of Authenticity...although some companies purposely left off dates so the dolls would appear OLD and timeless....but the bulk were made in the 1980s and 1990s.

Post back to let me know that you are enjoying her for her beauty because she is too cute!!!

The company who made this doll mass-produced the dolls. Each lot of dolls they made were 1000-1500 per lot. That means that the dolls were not limited editions. The limited edition referred to the fact that this was the only doll of its kind that the company was making they did not repeat this doll again. When the company produced the doll and the paper they would write about the doll on the paper and tell you the doll's name and some information abut the doll. Other than this that is basically all there is to learn about dolls like this.

As for the market today the dolls are flooding the marketplace and they are being sold off as low as $5 and on the higher end only $15. The original value of the dolls ranged from $35-75 when you first purchased the dolls. This deepened on where they were sold and how many were made in each lot.

As for your doll the most that you can expect to earn from this doll is around $15. it is best to enjoy the doll as it is now and if you want to open the box and take her out feel free to do so. It does not appear that the doll market will improve any time soon and therefore it is best to enjoy the doll now and not wait another 20 years or so to see if things change.

Other members have said it all - open the box and place her in a prominent spot so you can enjoy her as she is really cute.

There are so many dolls available - from every collection and very few are selling no matter the brand, type or price.

Dolls are just not on very many people's 'wanted' lists and the original market was based on dolls being valuable 'in the future' so many were never opened - sad as they are even lower in value than some of their original 'cheap or expensive' prices.

You can check out eBay's sold listing for this collection but you'll find very few have been sold in the US but a few more in the UK. I did not see your doll but the value will be very close to any of the doll's sold. Dolls are very slow sellers and most will never sell.

Check the prices - isn't your doll worth more to you than all of this frustration?

Unfortunately this lovey doll will not bring in more $25. There are hundreds of dolls on the market online. The market is actually at it's weakest right now.

Maybe a yard could bring a fair price ,without the shipping cost.
