It is always hard to tell from a photo, but I do see a lot of American Staffordshire Terrier in your pup!

Did you get your vet weigh in? The vet can see things I can't like his teeth, jaw line, hips, bone structure etc. and can weigh in.

Your pup is very handsome! Wishing you many fun adventures together!

He is a very good looking dog but there are so many different 'types' of pit bulls and it seems rarely do two dogs have matching color markings that it just means dogs with a large percentage of one breed (with only a little 'mix') may not look like another pit.

If I had to 'guess' I would say he certainly looks to be a nice specimen of a pit bull.

Breeding is difficult to tell from pictures and especially only from the side (ID pictures usually show full face along with body) and age makes a big difference when amateurs are making guesses.

Here is a good link that tells a lot about how to identify a true pit bull.

DNA tests can be found in many stores, pet supply stores, vets, as well as online. The price varies according to how deep you wish to go into their 'history' but less expensive tests do a good job and pet owners are usually glad to find out about their pups.

A puppy's first year is so important so I hope he has all his shots/vaccinations. Perhaps your vet has some ideas about his breeding?

From the photo you have shown us he does look full-blooded by the size and bulk of the body. I would also suggest that you see the breeders that you purchased the dog from and ask them if they have any papers at all on the mother and father.

This can also help you to obtain papers for your dog.
