She looks like a pure pitbull. You could do a DNA test to be sure.

If the picture of your dog is only 16 weeks old, you'll have a mighty big dog. From what I can see in the photo it does look like a pure breed. However, if the person you bought the dog from should have supplied you with papers. I'd go back and ask for the papers on the dog so you can verify the blood line.

what an adorable pup! She looks like a 'blue'

Here's some fun sites with great questionnaires to see what they might be: pethelpful.com/.../breeds-in-mutt

of course to truly see what sort of dog they are, a vet's attention, and possibly a DNA test, are the only way to tell. Apparently, they are becoming more and more common. They usually cost around $60 or so.

Pure bred or not, she is beautiful.

  • It is impossible to tell a true breeding from a picture even for a vet or a certified breeder.
  • If you look at the photos of a "pure" blue nose placed on Google (and many other sites) you will see how many different "looks" they have.

  • One thing I have noticed about this breed, it seems that almost all have a white "spot" under their chin/chest and some white on one or more feet.
  • Here is a link to some interesting facts about your blue nose.

  • Here is a fun site (petMD) that you upload a photo and get a "breed" answer. (All in fun - nothing official).

  • DNA testing is the only sure way to know what mix your dog has. It is easy to do and is relatively inexpensive since so many people are taking advantage of this service. you can purchase DNA test kits from pet stores, on line and from your vet (vet is usually more expensive).
  • Here is a link that explains DNA testing and also a sample link of a DNA test kit on-line (but there are other sites with less expensive kits).

Most important is your puppy's first year shots/vaccinations so please be sure to take her to the vet soon.
