Keeping Your Dog in Your Yard?

I have 3 dogs, 2 pure bred Labradors (Thomas and Mia or Mya) and one Lab mix (Luna). Mia is a really good dog she's sweet and all. Thomas is an overprotective dog, he tries to grab every man or women that walks by trying to protect his yard. One time he got over the fence trying to get to a lady and her dogs and almost got hit by a motorcycle. Thank God he's still here. We have no idea what to do. Luna jumps fences and bolts through yards. I always go after her because I'm afraid to lose her. One time she got away and we could not find her. She was gone 24 hours maybe more. Some lady found her, took her in, and bathed her. They are all fixed, but Luna, she always runs away from other dogs. Can someone give me advice on what to do, please?

This is a real problem and I have had this problem with one of my dog. He seems to get out of the yard, no matter what I do.

  1. You will need to raise the fence on your yard. You can either do this with some yard fencing or wood.
  2. Many people who have this issue have had to install an electric fence in their yard to keep the dog in.
  3. I personally don't like this idea.
  4. I finally had to put up a 8' high fence in my yard and put a screen over the fence so the dog couldn't look out.
  5. I know this isn't so nice looking but they do have some really nice fencing material in the markets today.

  7. I would suggest that you raise your fence and make sure the dog's can't jump over it again or get out.
  8. If they can't get through the fence it is easier to keep them in the yard.
