No Cold Water?

Why do I have hot water but not cold water when the shut offs are all on. We have 50 lbs of water pressure but no cold.

There are many reasons:

Perhaps your hot and cold-water pipes run parallel to one another and over time, the hot water pipe heats the cold water pipe.

Having high water pressure can cause hot water coming from the cold tap.

Perhaps the thermostat is broken and not properly regulating your water temperature.

If your home has a water expansion tank, this piece of equipment relies on a one-way valve to lower pressure on the water meter. Perhaps the valve is broken and the hot water flows into your cold water tap.

Perhaps during your home's plumbing installation, the heat trap was placed not in the water heating inlet and the hot water infiltrate the cold water lines.

Modern sink faucets have a cartridge in them to direct water flow. Perhaps your faucet has a faulty or broken cartridge, it could be directing water incorrectly or only drawing from the hot water pipe.

Is this happening with all faucets, or maybe just one?
Have you checked to see if there is an individual shut-off on each faucet?
Usually, there is one for hot and cold water at all sinks, but only for cold water at commodes.

There could be a few reasons. Unless you are familiar with plumbing, its best to get a professional.

I think a shutoff valve in the main water supply line may have been turned off accidentally. You can simply turn the valve back on.

Do you have hot water but not cold water in the shower? It may indicate defective parts within the shower faucet. Read about this problem here: www.mrrooter.com/.../

You most likely need to replace the cartridge that houses the pressure-balancing valve.
