Orange Pineapple Fluff

A footed glass bowl of orange pineapple fluff. This is an old recipe that we have enjoyed for years. It is so simple and easy to make, it takes just a few minutes to put together and get it into the refrigerator to chill. It can be served as a salad or dessert.

Ingredients:

1 6 oz. box orange Jell-O gelatin
1 8 fl. oz. container cool whip
1 16 fl. oz. container cottage cheese
1 15 fl. oz. container Mandarin oranges (drained)
1 8 fl. oz can crushed pineapple (drained)
1 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

Drain Mandarin oranges and crushed pineapple. Discard the juice.

Bowls of canned mandarin oranges and pineapple.

Mix the Jell-O with the cottage cheese.

Mixing the ingredients together in a bowl.

Add other ingredients and stir until blended.

Pour into a 2 quart dish, cover and refrigerator to chill.

A glass container of orange pineapple fluff.

Serve cold as a salad or dessert.

I have used a modified version of this for many different flavors.
All the gelatin flavors and the pudding flavors can be used if it is to your taste.
You can use fresh fruit that has been macerated in a little sugar, or any canned fruit that you enjoy.
Nuts should be used only if those eating it have no allergy to nuts.

In the past, we have used CREAM CHEESE instead of cottage cheese (didn't have any right then). You need to use a good mixer to make sure there aren't lumps of cream cheese, but it makes this so rich.
