Paper Clips to Fix a Hem

If you have no straight pins, use paper clips to keep folded-over fabric in place when sewing a simple hem. Just slide the paper clip along the material as you work. Works really well.

I just used this trick two days ago. Funny it should turn up so soon on Thriftyfun. Yes, it works wonders in making a hem when you don't have pins, so long as you remove the clips as you approach their spot with your sewing to make sure the fabric lays properly and doesn't wrinkle.
