Parmigiano Hamburger Sandwich

An artisan sandwich.

Total Time: about 15-40 minutes

Yield: 1 sandwhich

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. If you don't have pre-cooked hamburger at hand, cook some up.

  3. Drain as needed during the cooking process, and add herbs and spices to the cooking meat after most of the oil is removed. I use a salt free garlic and herb mix, but you can use your favorite mix or herbs. If you have pre-cooked hamburger, spice it to your liking.
  4. I did this cold but you can pre-heat it as well. I used ground, but a patty would work as well. Put enough hamburger in a small bowl to fill the sandwich to your liking.
  5. I chopped up half a large button mushroom and added it to the ground meat for extra protein, but you can leave that out if you want to.
  6. Add enough butter or cream to moisten the hamburger, stir well if it's ground. Add the Parmigiano cheese to the hamburger, stir well if it's ground. If it's a patty, just put half of the cheese on the patty. Add more than suggested if you want to, I have to follow a strict diet so kept everything within my limits.

  8. Set the bread out and put mayonnaise on it. Spread it until it covers one slice. Carefully place the ground hamburger on the mayonnaise coated piece of bread, or if it's a patty, take the mayonnaise coated piece of bread and lay it face down on the patty on the side you put cheese on, carefully turn it over so the bread is on the bottom.
  9. Add vegetables. I did tomato, sprouts, and mushrooms, forgot the onion, all of these and many others are possible.
  10. Put on the other slice of bread, press firmly, but gently, if ground to help hold the meat in, hold firmly if ground, and enjoy.

A pound of burger will easily make 4 sandwiches, just quadruple the recipe.
