Parvo Query?

Max is a 5 month old Labrador Retriever. He is having a fever, vomiting 2-3 times a day, and passing stool 1-2 times a day that has blood in it. I am aware these are parvo symptoms. But when we visited the vet, he said he is having pneumonia too. The last two days he has been given IVs and medicines.

I read somewhere that if they survive 4-5 days then they mostly recover. Is this true? I know it will take weeks for him to recover, but I wanted to know how long does it take for him to be out of the danger zone? I request all of you to pray for him.

Very sorry to hear that Max is so sick.
Parvo is very bad and there is no way to predict how long it will take for him to recover.
You do not say but is he still with the vet? If so, his recovery should be in good hands and hopefully he will recover. If he is at home or when he comes home you will have to follow instructions very carefully or it could still be fatal.

This is what many vets say about the first few days:
"Dogs that can recover from infection are sick for five to 10 days after symptoms begin." This is just the most dangerous period but full recovery takes much longer.

There is a lot of information online about how to deal with Parvo so take a little times and read some of the information so you'll know how to take care of him.
It is sad that pups do not receive their first year shots/vaccinations as they are so vulnerable to Parvo. He will be safe from this once he recovers but your home and yard will not be safe for other dogs for several months.
Be sure he receives plenty of liquids and gets to rest as much as possible.

I would say if the dog is not getting worse, that is a good sign. Every dog is different. Keep in contact with the vet, as your dog has two serious conditions.

Not True, Parvo is a serious disease among animals. The time for recovery is different for each one. This process is slow and takes your 100% of attention to get your fur baby back to normal. There may be some hard times to come or he may get a burst of energy.

Prayers for your pup! I know parvo survivors and all had good vet care and the pet parents followed post vet care to the letter.

Every pup recovers at his/her own pace. Praying your pup will heal quick and be his bouncy self.

Post back with an update. Prayers for a quick and full recovery!
