Planning a Church Social?

September 8, 2015

I have been selected to organize a spring day social for a Christian fellowship group of 15 people, ages 30 -50. I'm only 23. The social is meant to celebrate spring and just have a fun social time together. I need ideas on the theme to use and ideas or suggestions of how to go about organizing this. We have already agreed on doing this in the garden of one of the members home.

Please advise on:

  • What would be the most nicest theme?
  • What would be the most good choice of food and drinks?
  • the setup itself
  • music to play in the background
  • activities to try out together
  • the decorating itself (whether or not I should play around with using bible quotes as part of the décor)

I don't want this to be too serious, but I also don't want it to be too 23 for the ladies.

Please assist. This will be held by the end of this month.

As far as food and drinks you could always do fresh fruit and vegetable trays, cheese meat and crackers, bottled water, or lemonade, iced tea. You could do a group activity and plant some flowers or an herb garden to take home. To do that of course you would need to tell everyone to dress in their gardening digs. You could look up bible verses related to spring and utilize those into the decor. Maybe consider doing a potluck where everyone brings their favorite springtime food to eat weather its a special salad or dessert.

You could also draw names and have everyone bring a spring themed gift like a potted plant or flower to exchange. Another idea is to have everyone be prepared to share a bible verse or a favorite memory they have about spring and have them share it with the group at your gathering.
