Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg. bratwurst (1lb.)
  • 1 jar sauerkraut (1qt.)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. dry onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

Place bratwurst on bottom of casserole dish. Drain sauerkraut and mix with brown sugar, dry onion soup mix, and water. Pour this over bratwurst, cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups water
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. hot pepper sauce
  • 2-3 tsp. celery salt
  • 2-3 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 15 fresh bratwurst links
  • 5 hot dog buns or brat buns, split

Directions

In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine the first seven ingredients. Bring to a boil. Add bratwurst. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes or until bratwurst is firm and cooked. Drain, reserving onions. Refrigerate or freeze 10 bratwurst. Broil or grill remaining bratwurst for 4-5 minutes until browned, turning once. Serve on buns with reserved onions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans chicken broth (14.5 oz. each)
  • 4 medium carrots, cut into 3/4 inch chunks
  • 2 celery ribs, cut into 3/4 inch chunks
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2-1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 3 cups chopped cabbage
  • 2 cans great northern beans, rinsed and drained (15.5 oz. each)
  • 5 fully cooked bratwurst links, cut into 3/4 inch slices

Directions

In a large saucepan, combine the first eight ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Add the cabbage; cover and cook for 10 minutes. Stir in beans and bratwurst; heat through.

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, cut into 1/4 inch slices
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp. caraway seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • pepper, to taste
  • 5 fully cooked bratwurst links, cut into 1/2 inch slices

Directions

In a large skillet, saute onions in butter until tender. Add the potatoes, sauerkraut, broth, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, caraway seeds, bay leaf and pepper. Cover and simmer for 35-40 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Stir in the bratwurst; heat through. Discard bay leaf.
