We used to use salt, vinegar and baking soda (let it sit for about 20 minutes) and wipe off with a clean rag or sponge. Rinse well. It is not good for them to use aerosol spray...at least in my opinion.
Some good suggestions but most sites (including George Foreman site) recommend placing 3 layers of paper towels on your grill after using .
Be sure to unplug first and wait until grill has cooled a little (but still almost hot).
This does work but if you have a buildup of grease it may take several times to remove all sludge.
