Removing Mop n Glo Residue from Vinyl Plank Flooring?

My husband had just installed vinyl plank flooring in parts of our home. He decided to surprise me and shine it up with Mop n Glo. Disaster! It left permanent mop marks and easily spots and scratches. What can I safely use to remove this?

Here are a few things you can try.

  1. Mix one cup of vinegar with a gallon of water and mop your floors. Afterwards, rinse the floors with water. If you are still seeing a build up repeat the moping with vinegar a second time.
  2. If the vinegar solution doesn't work, try adding 1/2 cup of baking soda to one gallon of water. Mix well and make sure the baking soda is dissolved. With a clean mop and a clean bucket of water, mop your floor again. If you are using the same mop to mop your floor you will need to make sure the mop is clean and there is no baking soda left in the mop.

  3. If the first two options didn't work you will need to use ammonia to clean the floor. Mix 2 cups of ammonia with one gallon of water. Use a soft scrubbing pad or a nylong scrub brush. You will need to scrub the floor to remove the residue from the mop and glow. It is suggested that you test this mixture on an area of the floor first to make sure it doesn't damage your floor. If it is fine use this to clean the rest of your floor. After scrubbing you will need to wash the floor with clean water.

Step 1
Sweep the floor thoroughly

Step 2
Mix up 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket

Step 3
Mop the entire floor, not just the marks

Step 4
Wipe the floor clean with hard pressure using a soft towel

If above does not work, do the same but with diluted ammonia (2 cups to one gallon water)
