Removing Urine Smell from Bathroom Floor?

I empty the bedside commode into the toilet. The toilet paper splashes in and some of it gets on the bathroom floor. It is sometimes mixed with feces on the paper or in it. How do I do this without the smell getting in the commode or on the bathroom floor. I smell it all day. My mom uses it at night and I empty it in the am.

Try "Odors Out" you can buy it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I hope this helps.

The best thing to use is white vinegar straight from the bottle. The smell will be gone instantly. The vinegar smell will go away shortly. I also use straight vinegar to clean windows. Works great. Vinegar is also a disinfectant. Hope this helps.

I had a plastic seat that came with the toilet; it broke. I bought a wooden seat coated with whatever they coat it with. Pretty soon that was disgusting as the "paint" wore off from pee, water, cleaning, etc, under the seat and the wood part was "warping" as it absorbed the pee and water now.

So I went back to plastic, AND now I have a smelly problem cuz the brand new lid is absorbing the smell. The wooden one looked worse than it smelled. I can't win! Wish I had the original back.

I have this issue with a brand new seat. I think it's the plastic. I'm going to buy some eucalypti to put in a vase in there because I'm not replacing this $50 new seat. Odd though.

Interestinghad the urine smell once while having a male house guest and vinegar seemed to make it angry lol. I clean toilets every morning so I was baffled. I scrubbed the toilet - bowl and outside and used the vinegar to clean the floor (I assumed that was where it was coming from) with no luck A friend whos cared for an elderly male relative suggested Clorox Urine Remover.

This worked wonderfully.

When my Mom was using hers, her hospice nurse told us to put water in the bottom of the commode, maybe like an inch or two. It usually stops everything from sticking, dilutes odors and helps it slide when you pour it out. But I would think you could add a bit more water right before dumping it in the morning. Also I have a super strong sense of smell and very weak stomach, get some of that dollar store Vicks vapor rub and put a little bit just under each nostril, you will get that menthol smell more than anything else, just make sure you gently remove it. If you find it to harsh for your skin apply Vaseline first, the dollar store baby section even has I think lavender scented of that. But you can use the Vicks or scented Vaseline and your Mom won't really be able to see it, and it will be gentle on her probably already fragile feelings. I'm in no way saying you make her feel that way I just remember how my mother felt. Have a wonderful day.
