Look in the closet or wherever you keep your swifter. The battery compartment may have fallen off. On the swifter I had, you couldn't tell anything was missing.

Thank you for this answer. I was getting ready to take the thing apart and pull my hair out too. Sure enough, the battery holder was actually lying on my washing machine where somebody must have put it after finding it on the floor and not knowing what it was!

BINGO!! I looked at every video on how to replace the batteries and mine just didn't look like any of the Wet Jet's. That's because without the battery compartment, it wouldn't. Thank you. I was about ready to buy another one,

Wow, glad we came across this answer. After searching the internet for 30 minutes and spending 30 minutes trying to find how/ where batteries wen, this answer was THE answer. I asked the wife where she keeps the Swiffer and went looking for a missing part......there it was, the battery compartment, hidden below some plumbing behind the washing machine, right by where she keeps it. So glad to solve this little riddle.

Just spent 1/2 hour trying to take handle apart and looked on line! After seeing this, found the battery thingy in bottom of the closet! Now, Rotflmbo! After I used the old fashioned 'ringer' mop to do my kitchen floor!

The batteries are located on the front down toward the mop. There is a button, press the button and it will open. Requires 4 double A batteries.

I could not find any place that told me where the compartment is. Certainly not in the closet. Now my Swiffer Wet Jet is ready to go.

Its behind the solution bottle. Remove the bottle and you will see the compartment. Easy when you know where to look.
