Sauerbraten over noodles with a dollop of sour cream.My sister and her family were stationed in Germany in the 1990s. She has shared a few German dishes with me. This is one of my favorite.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 1 1/2 hours

Total Time: 2 hours

Yield: Serves 4 to 5

Ingredients:

Ingredients for making sauerbraten.
 

Steps:

  1. Cut meat into cubes and brown in oil. When browned, remove meat and set aside.
  2. A casserole pan with small pieces of cooked beef.
     
  3. Add gravy mix and 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in next six ingredients. Add salt and pepper to season. Add meat. Put mixture in a casserole dish. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1/2 hours. Remove bay leaf. Serve over hot, buttered noodles. Serves 5 to 6.
  4. Gravy being made in a casserole dish.
