Smothered ChickenCheap and easy, and so delicious! This dish makes its own wonderful gravy, perfect served with rice to soak it up.

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken, cut into pieces
  • Advertisement

  • 2 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • a little salt and pepper

Directions:

Brush or smear the chicken with butter. Brown it under the broiler, skin side up, just until browned; don't cook it through. Put in a deep baking dish that has a lid, skin side down. Dot with a little more butter, and sprinkle with salt and plenty of pepper. Cover all the chicken completely with the onions. There should be plenty!

Bake in a 325 degree F oven for 1 3/4 to 2 hours.

You'll have really tender, flavorful chicken and the best gravy!

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cooking Time: up to 2 Hours
