Social Security or Disability?

My question concerns my grandmother. You see she was on disability, but once her husband, my grandfather, passed away they took her off of disability and put her on Social Security. I don't know if this matters or not, but my grandfather was on Social Security at the time he passed. So, I guess my question is does anybody know why they switched her from the disability she was receiving to the Social Security she is now receiving?

Only the Social Security Administration can answer your questions. Call for an appointment at the local office and prepare copies of all pertinent information for your visit.

Generally this happens when someone hits a certain age. I think it's 62 or 65, when they become eligible for Social Security.
If you are on disability and reach the age to be eligible for Social Security they will automatically switch you over.
