Arrow Toss Valentine's Day
Toddler Game - heart with the arrows arrayed around itIf you are having a Valentine's Day party or just want a game to play at home with your toddlers, you can make this arrow toss game. The object of the game is to see who can toss their arrow the closest to the center of the heart.

Here are some other ideas you can use for this arrow project, including alternative games and home decor:

- For a more challenging game (or for older kids) instead of this arrow toss game, you can have boxes or containers where each box/container is worth a certain amount of points. The object of the game would be to throw the arrow into a box and the further away the box the more points would be scored.
- Use contact paper to make the heart sticky so the arrows could stick.
- Use the arrows as Valentine's Day decor (ex: decorate your mantle, make a banner, place in a cup as a decoration, etc.)
- Use the arrows and decorate a picture frame.
- Use an arrow as the finishing touch to decorate a Valentine's wreath.

Total Time: 30-40 minutes

Supplies:

  • felt
  • scissors
  • hot glue
  • wooden dowel, branch, or sticks
  • paper

Steps:

  1. This project would be great for using any left over felt you may have (or new felt) cut into triangle, arrow shapes. For every shape you cut, you will need a duplicate.
  2. Arrow Toss Valentine's Day Toddler Game - cut two pieces of felt for each arrow, tip and vanes

  3. Glue your arrow front and back onto a wooden dowel, branch, or stick. Repeat until you make as many arrows you would like!
  4. Arrow Toss Valentine's Day Toddler Game - glue tips and vanes to dowel or stick cover with the corresponding shape to encase the dowel

  5. For a fun feather like effect for the vane of the arrow you can make slits all around.
  6. Arrow Toss Valentine's Day Toddler Game - snip the edges to give a more feather look to vanes

  7. Optional: My toddler wanted to paint his so he can distinguish which arrow was his!
  8. Arrow Toss Valentine's Day Toddler Game - child marking the arrow shaft to id his own

  9. Cut out a heart from construction paper and this will be the target for where to toss your arrows in the game.
