How would I get rid of these books? They don't seem to be wanted. I also have the year books 1956-1975.

Nobody wants these books. The only thing you can do is to take them to a paper recycle center. The information in the books is online now and people don't want these books lying around their home.
People get their information from the Internet. These books are probably worth less than you paid.
