Value of Mersman Tables

Four pictures of Mersman tables with marking or carving.I bought these 2 tables for $15 total. My plan was to paint them until I looked up the name. I've never heard of Mersman. Any idea if I should sell them as is? How much should I ask for them? Thank you so much!

Your local area has a big bearing on the value of any type of furniture as all types are regional in their appeal to buyers. I live in Florida and your Mersman tables (no matter the style) would maybe sell for $50 to $75 if they are in excellent condition and pick up was easy.
Your area may like these tables and would be willing to pay more money or the area may not be into this brand/style and selling for $25 might be difficult.

Mersman numbers mean nothing when doing research as numbers on Mersman furniture has no history of anything meaningful - the numbers did mean something when the company was producing furniture but they never shared this information with the public. Most all Mersman pieces are described as 'mid century' as that is usually correct as these are vintage but not antiques.

That said; you will have to do a visual search for your tables to see if you can find a matching table that has sold and that would be your value as it shows what someone was willing to pay for that item.
If you would like more information on your particular tables, you will need to post full pictures of the tables and list their condition.
I did find Mersman #33-22 that an appraiser stated the value between $75-$100 (2018). Prices have not changed very much except to maybe fall lower as more people are downsizing and this is the type of furniture they usually sell first.

You can do visual research for your tables on eBay, Google, Etsy, etc to see what sellers are asking for similar tables. Asking prices are just prices a seller would like to receive for their items but only a sold item will show value as it shows what someone was willing to pay for that item.

Here is a link to eBay's sold listing for Mersman tables (all styles) over the past several months so you can also look for your tables on this site.
The problem with seeing a sold listing is that it was generally in a location other than your own which will make a difference (up or down) in value. Also, you have no way to know how many months/years an item was listed for sale before it sold.

I would say - as a general comment - you could list your tables on sites like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, offerup, letgo, etc and list it at a higher price - maybe $150 or more with best offer considered and free local pick up. No interest/offers? Lower the price.

You will need several good pictures, size and condition in listings.

It would probably be best to leave them as original unless they are in bad condition. Some make-overs can sell but they have to be very good.

I will say that from all appearances - $15 was a good buy.

Mersman is a great name brand and many people still buy these tables. Normally tables like this sell online for around $50-100 each. Considering you have purchased them locally and have only paid such a small price for the two of them the market in your area is very low. If you lived in another state that still values this type of furniture the price of the pieces would be much more.

If you do decide to paint the table this will decrease the value of the table greatly and they won't be worth much in your local area. If you decide to try and sell the tables again in your local area you may or may not make a few extra dollars selling them. Usually, the price you are willing to pay in your area is the price that others will also pay around you.
