Value of a 1948 Webster's Dictionary?

I have a copy of the Consolidated Webster Comprehensive Encyclopedic Dictionary published by Consolidated Books in 1948. It has pictures. What is its value? There are 768 pages.

This is so very hard to accept, but the book doesn't have much of a value at all. Normally, these types of books need to be over 100 years old before they have any type of value at all.
All the information found in the book is easily found online these days and nobody is interested in buying an outdated dictionary when there are so many spell checkers available for your mobile devices or computer.
You might be able to get $5 or $10 for the book, but I wouldn't put this on eBay to sell. You'll end up paying the shipping and that will leave you nothing for the book. You can try selling it in a yard sale. There are some people who do crafts that might buy this for the pictures.

There are none currently listed on eBay so I can't give you today's current market value. There are some similar UNSOLD ones starting at 1.00...but I truly only give value with exact matches.

You may want to check back to eBay every few days and look at the SOLD section only to get a feel for current market value for your EXACT ITEM--what people actually PAID for an item. If you find one in the current auctions, set up a watch, but only use the value when/if it sells.

I find the best bet with the old dictionaries and encyclopedia--once I rule out a higher market value, is to craft with them. Really crafty people (sadly I am just a novice) can make a fortune on using the neat illustrations and cool type pages in various craft projects!

One of my favorite things someone did with an old dictionary is turn it into a lamp! It was very cool! I have no electrical wiring skills and haven't had the time to YouTube a how to on this, but I have a few old books just waiting for this transformation!

Sorry it may not have a huge financial value for you as is! If nothing else and you want to get rid of it, see if you have a local recycling center that takes hardback books. I hate to do that to a book...but if you want to be rid of it, better in a recycle bin than in the dumpster.
