Bassie is now 10 months old. We got him as a rescue at 5 months. I know he looks like a Pit Bull, but his body is very slim with long, lean, muscular legs. He has 2 small white throat markings. I wonder what his parentage was, as it would help with training etc.? He doesn't seem to be getting any bigger now. He weighs about 50 lbs.

The very light coloured nose, head, and your description of the rest of your dog makes me think your dog is at least part Vizsla. Have a scroll through this image search result to see that your dog bears a very strong resemblance:
