What is this plant and how do I grow it? I took a clipping and put it in water, but don't know what to do with it now that I have it.

It appears to be a split leaf scheffallar plant, I had one of these plants years ago and I had to plan it and a large pot because it got very large. I kept mine in the Sun not bright Sun on my porch and during the winter time I kept it in a sunny window. I put a stake in mine to keep it off the floor
I believe your plant is related to the split leaf schefflera/Philodendron plant but most of this type of plant has more rounded leaves (Google for photos and you will see the rounded leaves) where your plant appears to have "sharper" thinner leaves with a slightly pointed end.
