15 years ago, my mother bought a house to be used for a daycare. Since this was its purpose, she has never changed much of the upstairs. Now she is considering/planning to sell and wants to paint a certain bedroom. The problem is, everything is pink. It came that way. It has rose colored carpet, pink walls, even the blinds are pink. She has no ability to color match in any way. I keep telling her, neutral tones and have managed to get her to listen after much arguing, with the downstairs rooms.

The house is in a depressed area and, as the realtor told her, there is "no" housing market here, so she is hanging onto it for a little while and is eager (too) to repaint all the walls in order to increase the chances of a sale, but has little money to put into it and seems to think it is just fine to paint all the walls of every room the same color. What would be a nice, neutral color to paint a bedroom that is not so gender specific and would possibly increase sales? It must match the rose colored carpet.

From what I have read, grey or greige is the new in colour, and a soft grey would go very well with the rose carpet. It is very gender neutral. With soft pink curtains and pink bedspread, it is quite feminine.

If you used dark grey curtains, or even a navy, with grey or navy on the bed to match, it would be more masculine.

Perhaps a very pale green or very pale yellow? I think very light green might be nice in a guestroom.

I have striped curtains grey, cream, and black and grey and black duvet covers. What would you suggest for walls? I have a light green in mind, would this look terrible?

What does your son say? Does he like green? I think you could let him choose. Green would be okay. I would choose blue, as would my sons, but white or pale grey would also work.

Pale yellow would also be nice, but I'm not sure if it is what a young fellow would like. Might be better in a guest room!

I have recently purchased beautiful taupe blackout curtains for my bedroom. The bedding is cream with splashes of salmon. The problem is my green walls make the curtains look like an olive green which looks horrible with the green paint on the walls. What would be the best color to paint the walls to pull it all together?

If it were me, I'd either return the taupe curtains for another color or paint the walls white, cream or salmon.

A light grey color would be very pretty - it will also go your next comforter because it is calming and neutral.

A soft gold hue would be nice, although apparently for sleeping blue has more serenity and helps you sleep.

I have just purchased new curtains, pillows, and a comforter that have a greenish/yellow background, covered with light and medium dark mauve flowers. I just can't figure out what color to paint my bedroom walls and crown mouldings! My bedroom furniture (a dresser, desk, and two bedside tables) is vintage medium brown with brass handles.

I'm currently moving into a new house with my boyfriend and I want an Asian inspired bedroom. Primarily I want accents that have Tibetan and Japanese classical styles. I'm OK with furniture accents, but paint ideas I have no idea what to do with. I know I want an accent wall (the wall our bed will be against) to be painted a deep rich red, but I have no idea what to paint the other walls. When it comes to matching creams and beige colors I'm completely clueless. :(
