Recycling Wrapping Paper and Greeting Cards

If you're like me, you hate to throw out pretty wrapping paper. I use it as many times as I can to wrap gifts. I also save the fronts from old greeting cards. Here's a few ideas to re-use them:

Cover tissue boxes with old wrapping paper, and use the boxes as catch-alls. Cut out the pictures from the cards and hang with a ribbon as holiday decorations. Use the fronts of old cards as postcards. Cut out the flowers or objects from wrapping paper and cards to decorate a scrapbook with. Cover the outside of a sturdy cardboard box with wrapping paper, with the top flaps cut off. Use the box to fill as a "gift box" instead of a "gift basket". Send the card fronts to St.
Jude's Ranch for children, where they make the cards into new cards. Cut out the shapes and pictures from old greeting cards, and then cut-and-paste them onto sturdy paper with a child; make an entire scene. You are limited only by your imagination! Have fun!

Used paper works great for padding when you are putting away Christmas decorations.

Leftover wrapping paper that doesn't have Christmas themes can be set aside for wrapping birthday presents and other gifts throughout the year

I like to use up any tidbits of wrapping paper on cute holiday picture frames. Buy a really cheap wooden frame, it must be flat though, no ridges or edges. The glue random scraps of paper onto the wood, making sure it is flat! The take some modge-podge and apply a few thin layers. For an added shine, spray with glitter spray, or use to modge-podge with glitter already in it. These are very cute for a family photo, and wonderful, personalized gifts. Enjoy!

I do not throw out scraps from gifts, packaging, etc. I save them in a craft bin for the kids to used the recycled matter to make things. I serves a dual purpose. I help save waste and money by recycling and reusing.

Shred old or previously used gift wrap & use for New Year's Eve confetti or for filler in gift bags, gift baskets or Easter baskets.
